Born in Izmir, Melike grew up experimenting with painting with her mother. She moved to İstanbul to study in the Department of Industrial Design at Yeditepe University, and the people she met while experiencing İstanbul and the stories of these people had a huge impact on her artistic perception. The books she read, her part-time jobs, second-hand shops, and antique shops have always been sources of inspiration for her illustrations. Melike conveys her connection to the places she would like to travel through her striking use of color, instinctual layering of texture, and unexpected compositions. In her mini-comic drawings, she aims to illustrate daily life while also depicting the living spaces and items of which she often dreams.
